Ah, registration. The one time of year that it’s acceptable, but still annoying, to say that you are a class above everyone else in credits after you say what class you’re in. For those who are new to this, or not new but are still confused, here’s an overview of what you need to know.
Registration is done by time ticket at UNF. Seniors and graduate students register first, starting at 7 a.m. on the first day of registration: Nov. 14. Time tickets were posted on Nov. 1 and allow students to see when they register, if they have any holds on their account preventing registration, and who to contact if that is the case.
Throughout the day more people are allowed to register, based on the number of credits you have prior to the end of the current semester. Freshmen are usually the last to register, sometime on Friday evening. Depending on what you’re involved in on campus, you may have priority registration that gives you an earlier time ticket despite the number of credit hours you have.
Starting Monday, Nov. 21, registration is a free-for-all, and anyone can register. Technically speaking, you can register up until the end of spring add/drop week, which is Jan. 13, 2017 — but you probably shouldn’t wait that long. Classes start to fill up, which is especially a worry for freshmen and sophomores who are all trying to take the same gen-ed classes.
Try using the Osprey Course Scheduler to make your schedule and then save your cart so all you have to do is press the “Register” when it’s your time.
If you have a hold on your account, you can view what it is and who it came from. Holds might come from the Office of Medical Compliance, Housing, Parking, or everyone’s favorite entity, OneStop Student Services. Some holds are informational or a survey, such as the “Collect Hours Work” hold that you might have seen this semester. Those you can get rid of yourself, but others you will have to visit the office that originated it.
If OneStop is the originator and you happen to be allergic to Hicks Hall, lucky for you, OneStop is set up in the Library all week.
