In the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 the Ospreys grabbed the lead with two runs in the first inning. In the second inning, the Dolphins made their only run of the game for a 2-1 final score. In the second game, the Ospreys came from behind a 6-0 Dolphin lead in the bottom of the fourth, adding three runs to bring the game within reach. In the seventh inning, the Ospreys rallied and put up four runs to capture the lead at 7-6 for the win.
In the final game on Sunday the Ospreys scored four runs in the bottom of the second to overcome their one point deficit to the Dolphins. In the top of the seventh, the Dolphins scored their second run of the game for a 4-2 final score.
With these wins the Ospreys have now secured at least a five-seed going into the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.
“This was a great week for us,” UNF Head Coach Marcie Hickey said. “We are playing well right now. Our offense is providing run support and our pitchers and defense are holding our opponents. I feel good about where we are as we finish the regular season.”
Next on the schedule is a doubleheader against the Stetson Hatters on Wednesday, April 22 at 4 p.m. in Deland, Fla. This will be North Florida’s final game of the conference season.
