The Ospreys could not answer a late, go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth by UCF, losing 5-4 Wednesday night in Orlando.

The Ospreys (3-2) scored the first runs of the game against the Knights (5-0) with an RBI single from Alex Merritt to bring in Chris Thibideau. Two more runs were added, and UNF exited the top of the second with a 3-0 lead.

A three-run homer by UCF second baseman Ryan Crile in the bottom of the second gave the Knights a 4-3 lead over the Ospreys.

Both teams cooled down from the plate and went scoreless for the next five innings.

In the eighth, a game-tying RBI double by Osprey right fielder Nick Karmeris sent Dalton Board home for the score. The Ospreys stranded a runner on base, stalling the comeback.

In the bottom of the eighth, UCF left fielder Austin Griffin doubled off the wall, sending home what would be the game-winning run.

Next the Ospreys will face Hartford at Harmon Stadium on Feb. 26, in the first of a three-game series.
