Update: 7/20 5:09 p.m. – The original email from DePaul stated: “You will need to adjust your report to say that I am a former professor at UNF. As of today, I have been fired.”

However, DePaul rescinded this statement and instead explained that her contract expired and the university had decided not to renew it.

A UNF adjunct professor who is running for Congress was just fired, according to the professor.

Monica DePaul contacted Spinnaker this afternoon and explained that she had been fired. She was an English adjunct professor at the university.

UNF’s Public Relations Director, Joanna Norris, stated that the university does not comment on personnel matters.

Spinnaker will continue to investigate and will update with new information as it becomes available.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated that university does not comment on “personal” matters. The correct statement is that the university does not comment on “personnel” matters.
