UNF Instructor Ellen Glasser is the new mayor of Atlantic Beach

Ellen Glasser, a UNF instructor of criminology, was elected mayor of Atlantic Beach Tuesday defeating previous mayor Mitchell Reeves, according to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections Mike Hogan.

Glasser won 54 percent of the votes in the election on Aug. 29. The retired FBI agent will serve a two year term as mayor.

Glasser said she plans to continue teaching at UNF part time.
