Black Friday Preview: Deals on college student essentials

Black Friday: a shopper’s favorite day. If you enjoy fighting (sometimes literally) the crowds to snag those early holiday deals, we’ve got you covered! Here is a list of what local stores are offering this Black Friday.


Best Buy

Best Buy is open on Thanksgiving day from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The store will reopen from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 24, Black Friday. Here are some awesome features from their ad preview. Be sure to check out their ad for even more incredible deals on tech supplies.

  • Free shipping on all online orders on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
  • Apple iPad Mini 4 with 128GB is $274.99 as compared to $399.99
  • 13.3 inch Apple Macbook Air is $799.99 as compared to $999.99. The laptop has 8GB of memory and 128GB of flash storage.



They are open on Thanksgiving from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. On Black Friday, they reopen at 6 a.m. The deals start as early as Wednesday, Nov. 22 for Red Card holders. If you are not already a Target Red Card Member, you can sign up on their website. The Red Card offers a 5 percent discount on every Target purchase you make in store or online, so you can get great deals year round.   • Spend $50 or more on Friday, Nov. 24 and get 20 percent off on a shopping trip between Nov. 28 and Dec. 10.

The tech and office-supply store opens at 7 a.m. on Black Friday. Their ad features basic necessities for students, like flash drives, as well as fun gifts, like instant film cameras! Be sure to stop at Staples for some pretty great deals.

  • Select printers are 50 percent off.
  • USB 2.0 16GB flash drives are $7.99.
  • Order any time online on Thanksgiving and pick up your order in store on Friday.



Ulta is the place to get beauty supplies for the makeup lover in your life, especially if said makeup lover is you. The beauty store is open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving, and from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

  • Use code 505976 to get $3.50 off a purchase of $15 or more. This offer is valid in store and online. You can print their coupon here. The offer is valid through Saturday, Nov. 25.
  • The Body Shop brand body butters are 40 percent off.
