Know Our Names: The Story of Barack Obama
February 9, 2018
Barack Obama made history by becoming the 44th president and the first African-American president of the United States. After graduating from Harvard Law School, Obama returned to the city of Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer. While practicing law, he was also teaching law part-time as a lecture and later a professor at the University of Chicago School of Law.
In 2005, Obama was sworn into the U.S. Senate. Three years later in 2008, he won the United States presidential election. He would go on to win his second presidential campaign and be sworn in on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
