Baseball (3-6) played their second consecutive game against the top-ranked University of Florida Gators, and this time fell 8-3 Wednesday night.

After a tough 4-0 shutout loss the previous night at home at Harmon Stadium, it was the Ospreys’ turn to go down to Gainesville in a Home-Home split with the Gators.

North Florida wasted no time in putting a run on the board as centerfielder Dan Murphy contacted on a solo home run. The Gators answered quickly and tied the game up in the in the next inning with a home run from Jonathan India.

During the fourth frame, the Ospreys took the lead once again off a Gator’s error before the score was locked up at 2-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Gators began to put a gap between themselves and the Ospreys with five scored runs.

For the remaining innings, only one additional run was ran around the bases for both teams as Florida sealed the victory.

North Florida return home to host a three-game series against UConn. The first meeting in the series is March 2 at 6:05 p.m.
