Hurricane Michael upgrades to a Category 2

Hurricane Michael upgraded to a Category 2 hurricane Tuesday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center. It is expected for the hurricane to make landfall as a Category 3.

A storm surge warning is in effect for the Okaloosa and Walton County Line to the Anclote River. A hurricane warning is in effect for the Alabama and Florida border to the Okaloosa and Walton County Line.

There are currently no school closures in Duval County, including UNF and FSCJ.

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry advised people to still take precautions even though Jacksonville is not under a hurricane warning or watch.
