Get ready for Osprey Life and Production’s Week of Welcome. Students old and new are encouraged to come out and meet their fellow Ospreys, as well as have a good time at the many free events WOW boasts.

Here is a list of events and some of what you can expect:

Wednesday, August 14

Wednesday begins UNF’s Week of Welcome with Great Escape Jacksonville, a puzzle-themed escape room brought straight to our very own Clubhouse Mini Green. Come out between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to play with (and against) fellow Ospreys for a chance to win tickets to Great Escape Jacksonville.

Thursday, August 15

Join Residence Life for this legacy in the making– the first annual Swing and Swoop. Located at the UNF Golf Complex, the Swing and Swoop will include a mix of traditional and new ways to play golf and win prizes. Come out between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Friday, August 16

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clubhouse Mini Green, you can enjoy bounce houses and free food, all while getting help from Residence Life to find your classes before Monday hits you like a brick. A full-fledged party with DJs and glow sticks is expected to hit the Green (the grassy lawn in front of the Lazzara, in case you didn’t know) at 8 p.m.

Saturday, August 17

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can hit the beach to clean up and hang out. Check your email to sign up– doughnuts will be provided too.

At 6 p.m., show up to the Lazzara to watch hypnotist David Hall’s live show.

Sunday, August 18

Report to the Green around noon on Sunday for Flight School, where Ospreys get their wings. Not only will you get to meet peers, mentors and student leadership from all over campus, but lunch is also provided. On top of that, at 5 p.m., a Welcome to College Luau will be held at the Osprey Plaza. If you still have the energy by 8 p.m., report to the Clubhouse Mini Green for a movie and popcorn.

Monday, August 19

The first official day of classes. Turn out for doughnut holes and employment opportunities provided by On Campus Transition (OCT) from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You can find them in Building 57, room 2800. At the same time, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Treats for Trivia will run in the Military Veterans Resource Center. All are welcome.

Tuesday, August 20

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Thomas G. Carpenter Library will provide a crash course on the resources they offer, as well as provide food for hungry Ospreys. OCT will be giving out doughnuts and information again, same time and place as Monday, so make sure you hit them up if you haven’t already.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Osprey Plaza, the Multicultural Student Round-up will be underway. Here, you can join the Department of Diversity Initiatives to get to know representatives from multiple organizations dedicated to providing resources for students of color. You’ll also be able to figure out how to get more involved.

Wednesday, August 21

From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the LGBT Resource Center is hosting a Rainbow Welcome. You can drop in throughout the day to learn more about what the Resource Center is about.

Meanwhile, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Student Union will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary of being open. There will be free games, cupcakes and a t-shirt give away. UNF’s President and First Lady Szymanski will also be making a special appearance.

From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the OCT will be offering free doughnut holes, employment and volunteer opportunities in Building 57, room 2800. If you didn’t make it the first couple of times, make sure you stop by.

The Taylor Leadership Institute is hosting an open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Here, you can learn more about the Institute and what programs and resources they offer. They will also be providing light snacks and beverages.

Thursday, August 22

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., you can take career pictures with The College of Arts & Sciences Career Success Center at the Alumni Square. All you have to do is bring your camera, because the team is providing the props (and snacks). Career Counselors will also be present in case you want to learn more about networking, gaining internships and presenting yourself correctly to employers.

The Game Room will also be hosting an open house, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy some nice refreshments and learn more about what the Game Room is all about. You can find the Game Room in the East Wing of the Student Union.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Interfaith Center will be hosting a dinner and trivia night in Building 58W, suite 3703AB.

Friday, August 23
