The UNF men’s golf team finished third out of 15 teams in the three-day invitational.
The team, ranked No. 13 in the nation according to golfstat.com, finished third in the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, hosted by UNF, Feb. 26-28 in Ponte Vedra. The team finished 13 strokes over par, one stroke short of No. 17 University of Central Florida and five strokes behind No. 8 Arkansas University.
The team shot a final day six under par to jump from sixth place to its eventual third place finish.
The team had two players finish in the top 10 individually. Junior Kevin Phelan and senior Kevin Aylwin were the top finishers for the Ospreys. Phelan finished tied for sixth, shooting a two under par on the final day as he finished the tournament one under par. Aylwin finished tied for eighth, shooting three under par in the final round and finishing the tournament at even par.
Sean Dale, the No. 29 ranked national player, finished tied for 36th, shooting eight over par.
The team’s next outing is at the General Hackler Championship, hosted by Coastal Carolina University, March 11-12 in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
