The Student Fee Assessment Committee met Nov. 26 to set a schedule for budget presentations on student fees.
On Jan. 16, Student Health Services and the Counseling Center will present
On Jan. 17, Health Promotions, Athletics, Student Government and the Disability Resource Center will present.
On Jan. 24, the SCAF will have a final deliberation and decide which student fees should be increased to meet the demands of the corresponding department.
Carlo Fassi, Student Body President, said he presents these recommended fee increases to president John Delaney, who brings them to the Board of Trustees to vote on.
Fassi said there may end up being no fee increases this year because UNF has almost reached the state cap for local fees.
According to Florida statute 1009.24, the sum of the Activity & Service, Health and Athletic fees are capped at 40 percent of tuition per credit hour.
The statute also says a university cannot increase the total sum of said fees more than five percent per year.
Fassi said the cap would allow them to raise next year’s fees by a maximum of $1.57 per credit hour.
