The University of North Florida women’s soccer team defeated the University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans 2-0 on Oct. 10.

UNF junior Amanda Fischler and senior Jill Holdsworth both claimed goals during the first half. The ladies improve to 2-1-1 in Atlantic Sun conference play for the season.

“It’s great to get two straight wins in conference play,” Head Coach Robin Confer said. “To be able to carry over the confidence following the win last Sunday was huge.”

The Ospreys were coming off a conference road win against Northern Kentucky the previous week. These wins prove Coach Confer’s testament that when the conference games started it would be “a whole new season.”

The Ospreys held off the Spartans with a strong defense in the first half, but slackened a little in the second, allowing a total of six shots on goal. Nevertheless, the Ospreys held strong and stopped all advances. Senior goalkeeper Megan Dorsey earned her second shutout of the season.
