After over a decade of working for UNF’s Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, adjunct professor Dr. Timothy “Tim” Simpson died on April 7.

Students of Dr. Simpson received an email April 8 from the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies saying that Simpson was struggling with cancer before he passed away.

“Up to the very end, despite severe treatments, he would not give up the teaching of his current course ‘Hebrew Bible/Old Testament,’” according to the email. “This course and generally teaching for our Religious Studies Program at UNF has always been a major source of joy and recognition for Dr. Simpson.”

Students have left heartwarming messages on his Facebook page, according to Associate Professor and Religious Studies Program Director Dr. Julie Ingersoll.

She also mentioned how large of an influence he was in the small department and that he will be dearly missed.
