The North Florida women’s golf team swung their way into second place at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship with a three-round total of 902 on April 14. The Ospreys shot a team total of 292 on Tuesday, besting the other A-Sun contenders, specifically the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles, who were hot on their heels.

“They went out today with a goal to finish in the top two and they definitely played with heart and determination to accomplish that goal,” UNF Head Coach Joanne Berglund said. “It was an incredible ending to a very successful year.”

UNF’s marketing junior Mary Dawson led her team, especially on the final day, by shooting a 71 (-1) to finish the tournament tied for fifth overall at 222. Dawson was joined in the top-10 by fellow teammate sports management junior Emelie Alpe, who scored a flat 72 (E) in her final round giving her a 224 for the tournament and a seventh place finish.

North Florida sophomore Megan Wilshire shot a 74 (+2) in her final round, ending the tournament tied for 11th at 227 and Kelly Aylwin, junior, shot a 75 (+3) on the last day to finish tied for 18th at 231.

Winning the championship with a final score of 872 was Kennesaw State University. The Ospreys followed in second place, ahead of Florida Gulf Coast (910), Jacksonville (918) Stetson University (923), Lipscomb University (939), Northern Kentucky University (941) and University of South Carolina Upstate (955).
