UNF women’s soccer (4-8 overall, 2-1 A-Sun) defeated New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT, 2-10 overall, 0-3 A-Sun) by a score of 3-0 on Oct. 9 at Hodges Stadium.

The Ospreys got off to a quick start, thanks to a goal by junior forward Kayla Aritt only 9 minutes into the match.

“When you get that first goal it usually shuts down the other team and allows us to get that boost of confidence and control the game,” Aritt said.

The goal would mark Aritt’s first of the season.

The Ospreys finished off the first half by increasing their lead to two goals, thanks to freshman midfielder/forward Gabby Daudet. It was also her first goal of the season. UNF rubbed salt in the wound early in the second half when senior midfielder Lanie Keating netted a goal at the 59-minute mark.

After the game, head coach Robin Confer expressed confidence in her team for the rest of the season.

“Our nonconference games were challenging, but we knew it was going to prepare us for the rest of conference,” Confer said. “When you get to conference, it’s a whole new season. Now here we are, we’re 2-1 and ready for Sunday.”

The Ospreys play their last home game of the season on Oct. 11 against A-Sun leaders Lipscomb (8-2-4 overall, 3-0 A-Sun).
