Aerie Bus comes to UNF with spokesmodel Iskra Lawrence

Move aside Victoria’s Secret PINK bus; there’s a new bus in town. The Aerie bus and spokes-model Iskra Lawrence swooped by the campus early Monday morning to say hello to the Ospreys.

The bus made it’s way to UNF’s campus as a last minute decision, Kelly McNiel, Aerie representative, told Spinnaker. With an Aerie store close to the campus in the St. Johns Town Center the bus decided to make its way to the Ospreys.

The bus is a part of Aerie’s Happy Tour where Aerie and Lawrence go to five different colleges to spread a positive message.

“It’s more [about] spreading awareness about body positivity,” said McNiel.

Students had the chance to look, buy, and be motivated as the Aerie bus spent the day at UNF. The bus included items for purchase, a motivational talk by Lawrence and a meet and greet with the model afterwards.

At the motivational talk lead by Lawrence she spoke about being confident in the body people have and loving yourself as you are. Students were able to talk to the model during the pep talk and even had the opportunity to ask her questions.

Once the motivational talk was over, Lawrence held a meet and greet where she took pictures with all the students and even held a small conversation with each one. Aerie workers took pictures on students phones for them as they met Lawrence and included a polaroid picture for each student as a souvenir.

Students could purchase items from the Aerie bus including, hats, swimsuits, t-shirts and more. Dressing rooms were available for shoppers to try items on.

For those who did not want to spend money Aerie sent up outdoor seating and welcomed students who only wanted to look or take pictures.

While the Aerie bus will come back Tuesday Mar. 14, Lawrence will not.
Depending on how the visit goes, the Aerie bus could possibly come back to UNF in the future, said McNiel.
