Men’s basketball hosts ASUN rivals FGCU

The Ospreys square off against the conference-leading Florida Gulf Coast Eagles today, Jan. 24, at the UNF Arena.

The Eagles (14-8 overall, 5-0 ASUN) visit the Ospreys following a weekend victory over Kennesaw State 66-49, increasing their win streak to seven games.

Guard Brandon Goodwin lead the Eagles with 17.5 points per game. Goodwin earned ASUN Player of the Week for his performance against Kennesaw State.

The Ospreys (9-13 Overall, 3-2 ASUN) come home from a road victory over USC Upstate 100-86, in which Noah Horchler led all scorers with 30 points.

With the offensive burst, Horchler earned his fourth ASUN Newcomer of the Week.

North Florida moves up to third in the conference ahead of their matchup against FGCU. Guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa leads all Ospreys with 14.1 points per game.

This is the 27th meeting all-time between the Ospreys and the Eagles. FGCU has a 16-10 advantage.

North Florida has maintained a 43-11 record (.796) in home games since the 2014-2015 season.  

The Florida teams met three times last year with the final matchup resulting in a Conference championship 77-61 victory for the Eagles.

The Ospreys currently rank first in offense (86.4 PPG) while the Eagles rank first in defense for league play (59.2 PPG allowed). North Florida is also first in the nation for three-pointers made and fourth in three-point attempts.
