Last February, Spinnaker Radio interviewed Fernandina Beach-based indie rock outfit flipturn to learn more about their musical style and hear some songs from their March 2017 EP, “Heavy Colors.” One year later, we invited the band back to see how much they’ve grown since they last sat on the couch.

Members Dillon Basse, Tristan Duncan, Madeline Jarman, Taylor Allen and Adrian Walker discussed how they entered a contest to play at Okeechobee Music Festival this year through an online poll, becoming the third Swamp Records artist to win. Okeechobee takes place from March 1 through March 4 this year, but the band will play on March 2.

Playing two songs titled “August” and “Six Below,” flipturn says fans can expect a “more mature” sound from their upcoming EP coming out in April. The EP draws influence from alternative/indie acts such as Hippo Campus and Glass Animals.

The leading single off their upcoming EP, “Churches” is available on all music streaming services worldwide, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.
