UNF Cross Country in full stride to open season

With the Men’s team winning the meet and key finishes by the Freshmen runners on the Women’s team, the Ospreys have hit the ground running to start the season.

The Women’s team finished second in the UNF Invitational to the University of Florida.The lead runner for the Women’s team was Freshman, Lydia van Dijk, who finished in sixth place with a time of 10:27. Barely trailing van Dijk was Freshman Tina Cesnik, who finished with a time of 10:41.49.

The Men’s team won their meet as five of the Ospreys finished in the top 10. Redshirt-Senior, Nick Morken, led the way for the Men’s team by finishing second in the race with a time of 15:24.23. Freshman Nathan Jubran finished right after Morken (15:24.94), and Junior Noah Perkins followed in fourth with a time of 15:28.61. Junior Rob Leverone finished strong in eighth place (15:42.19) and Sophomore Christian Conder rounded out the top 10 with a time of 15:47.85.

The next Cross Country meet is the Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Gainesville, FL.
