Nov. 5Petty Theft (Building Y) – A student reported a theft of keys in the Osprey Landing. Another student also reported a theft of money in his room. He last saw his money clip in his room Nov. 4. The student looking for his keys found the money clip inside a book on his desk, which was returned to its owner. It is unknown how the money clip ended up in the book.

Nov. 7Drug Possession and Paraphernalia (Building 4) – UPD interviewed a student who gained access to the roof of Building 4. The student claimed he was watching a movie on his laptop and star gazing. He carried two backpacks and a large bag with a mattress partially stuffed inside. Upon searching his bags, UPD found 2.7 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia. UPD issued the student a notice to appear and referred him to Student Conduct.

Nov. 10Information (Building 41) – A student contacted UPD to report her ex-boyfriend, who had been threatening her over the phone. The student didn’t want to pursue criminal charges, but UPD contacted the man and advised him to stop calling her.

Nov. 10Lost Property (Building 53) – After a recent inventory, a university staff member contacted UPD when she was unable to find a projector. It was last accounted for March 1 before their move to Building 6. The location of the projector is still unknown.

Nov. 10Burglary (Building 41) – A student contacted UPD in reference to a lost parking permit. She parked her car in the garage during the Ludacris concert, and when she returned, she had a parking ticket for no permit. The student had left her windows open while at the concert.

Nov. 11Drug Paraphernalia (Building X) – While conducting safety rounds in the Osprey Landing, two resident assistants observed several people entering a room late at night. The RAs knocked on the door and smelled marijuana coming from the room. When UPD investigated the situation, they found drug paraphernalia and six unopened cans of beer but no marijuana.

Nov. 12Information (Building 53) – A UNF employee contacted UPD after receiving a suicide threat from her ex-husband. She has been receiving numerous phone calls from him for the past six weeks. JSO went to her ex’s house as well as several of his friends’ addresses to get in contact with him. They also searched the parking lot for his car, but all attempts to get in touch with him were unsuccessful. The employee left campus for the remainder of the day.

Nov. 12 – Information (Building 44) – UPD was dispatched to the parking garage when a student sitting in her car said she had a severe migraine and felt nauseous. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue transported her to the Mayo Clinic Emergency Room.

BEAT of the WEEK

Nov. 10Bomb Threat (Building 3) – UPD responded when a student reported seeing a bomb threat written on the wall above a urinal. UPD immediately photographed the bomb threat and examined it for fingerprints but found nothing. UPD also conducted a search of all floors and the roof for suspicious devices and found a suspicious rolled up towel on top of a panel box. The JSO Bomb Detection K-9 Unit searched the building, as well. All searches found nothing, and the threats never came to fruition.
