Men will swap their casual wear for high heels tomorrow, April 7 at two separate events on campus: The UNF Women’s Center’s “Walk in a Woman’s Shoes” in Osprey Plaza at 11 a.m. and Osprey Productions’ (OP) drag show featuring drag queen Joslyn Fox in the Student Union Ballroom at 7:30 p.m.
UNF Women’s Center coordinator Bree Wynne said “[‘Walk in a Woman’s Shoes’] is to get the conversation started amongst students at UNF about sexual assault… discuss methods of prevention and to become aware of these incidents that are taking place daily.” April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and to recognize sexual violence, men are invited to walk a runway in high heels at Osprey Plaza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Later in the evening, OP, in partnership with the UNF Pride Club, is hosting a drag show featuring Joslyn Fox at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Fox was featured in the sixth season of the reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race. Doors open at 7 p.m.
It is not everyday a typical male slips into a pair of stilettos, but it’s happening twice tomorrow, at no cost to students.
