With a new hockey team coming coming to Jacksonville, UNF students will have access to discounted tickets to all the games.

UNF students will get 15 percent off tickets for the next year, according to Lucas Nicholas, sales representative for the Jacksonville IceMen.

The sales team will be selling discounted tickets at Market Days on Oct. 4 and 11.

Students, faculty and staff will also be able to purchase single game tickets online by using this link with the promo code “unfospreys.”

Starting Oct. 14th, Jacksonville residents are going to be able to enjoy their own hockey team. The team will make the Veterans Memorial Arena its new home, with 34 games to play this season.

The IceMen, owned by Ron Gear, will be playing in Jacksonville after playing in Evansville, Indiana for 8 years.

This is not the first time Jacksonville will have its own professional hockey team. After losing the Jacksonville Barracudas in 2008, the northeast has not seen a hockey team since. The IceMen will be playing in the East Coast Hockey League against teams like the Orlando Solar Bears and the Atlanta Gladiators.

The IceMen will be lead by head coach Jason Christie, who has a record of 547 coaching wins.
