Hurricane Florence now a Category 4 hurricane

Hurricane Florence has become a Category 4 hurricane as of noon on Monday, Sept. 10. At 11:00 a.m. the same day, Florence was reported to have maximum sustained winds around 115 mph, but after being upgraded to a Category 4 hurricane, its new maximum is 130 mph. Florence is expected to reach the coast by Thursday, Sept. 13.

The National Hurricane Center has also reported that as Florence nears the coast,“ swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.”
Florida Governor Rick Scott tweeted Sunday night that, “FL families need to stay alert- storms can change course & strengthen at any moment.” As of now, he has not Tweeted about the updated information.
