T.I. awards a college student with a $25,000 scholarship

Rapper and TV personality, T.I. Harris,  honored the life of his late sister by awarding a college student a 25-thousand dollar scholarship.

The recipient, Tierany Scott, was distinguished for being the founder of the Queen Empowerment Organization and president of her junior class at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Harris presented the Precious Chapman scholarship to Scott on the set of VH1’s production of Dear Mama with help from the United Negro College Fund. The UNCF is an organization that focuses on helping minorities attend and graduate from college.

Scott, like Harris’ sister Antoinette “Precious” Harris Chapman, was also a single mother. “She was a single mother who worked to make life better for her children and everyone else that she encountered.” said Harris during his sister’s tribute.

Harris giving his money to a good cause not only honors his sister, but he also provided a helping hand to a college student who deserved to be recognized and rewarded.

Harris continues to invest in the futures of college students who go above and beyond the average college formalities. Georgia Tech mentioned the rapper’s attendance, and his entrepreneur stance, in efforts to convince the university to offer more scholarships to public schools.
