The UNF softball team will test its skills against colleges from across the nation during the 2009 Winthrop/Adidas Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
“This will be another tough weekend. We have some good competition ahead of us,” softball head coach Marcie Hickey said.
WHAT
The Ospreys will compete in a 20-team tournament March 13-15 as part of the 2009 Winthrop/
Adidas Invitational.
UNF will face off against Syracuse University, University of Illinois, University of North Carolina-Wilmington and Winthrop University throughout the course of the weekend.
“Our offense really started to come along last week, and we are hoping to keep it going this weekend,” Hickey said. “Our pitching has been solid all year; now we adjust our offense to keep giving them the support they need to win games.”

LOOKING BACK
This will be the first time the Ospreys have traveled to Rock Hill, S.C., to compete in the
Winthrop/Adidas Invitational. The Ospreys have been fairly unsuccessful when dealing with teams from the Carolinas as of late. The team is 0-5 this season versus teams from North Carolina and South Carolina and is 1-3 in games played in South Carolina this season.
THIS SEASON
The Ospreys have won five of the past seven games this season, and have a record of 9-15 going into the invitational. But during the 16 games UNF has played in four tournament appearances, the team has won only four games. The Ospreys are currently 5-13 on the road this season.
UNF is coming off a doubleheader against Campbell
University, in which they won their first game 4-1 but fell to the Camels 2-0 in the second game. This is the Osprey’s final tournament of the season.
