DELAND, Fla. — Fresh off a 6-1 win over first win of this season’s A-Sun tournament, the UNF baseball team takes on Kennesaw State in DeLand today. On the mound for the Ospreys is the lanky lefty Tommy Organ. The 6-foot-5 hurler carries a 3.68 ERA heading into today’s game.

3:45 p.m. — #4 seed ETSU pulls off the upset by beating #1 seed Mercer. UNF-K State start time pushed to 4:20 p.m.

4:05 — Both teams warm up as grounds crews water down the infield.

4:21 — K-State is first up in Top 1. Lead off single by Almonte.

4:26 — K-State scores on a misplayed fly ball by CF Dewees. KSU 1 – UNF 0. Runners on second and third.

Sac fly scores runner from second KSU 2 – UNF 0. Runner on 3rd.

4:28 — Sac bunt scores runner from third, but late throw lands the runner safe at first. KSU 3 – UNF 0

Fly out to end the inning.

Organ looks shaky to say the least.

4:32 — Bot 1. Harsh on the mound for KSU, 4.55 ERA on the season.

4:36 — Marincov ropes triple to right field, scores P. Karmeris from first. KSU 3 – UNF 1

4:38 – Hit-Error by Dewees scores Marincov from third. Bad throw advances Dewees to second. Scores Marincov, KSU 3 – UNF 2

Looks like the score of this game will be in the 20’s.

4:42 — Weeks flies out to center to end the inning. KSU 3 – UNF 2.

UNF has a good offensive first, a  rarity for the Ospreys.

4:47 — Organ settles down in the top of the 2nd. Four faced for three outs. KSU 3 – UNF 2

Postpone the Organ transplant.

4:58 – UNF leaves 2 on base. KSU 3 – UNF 2

Game a little on the sloppy side. 3 total errors through 2 innings.

5:20 — KSU pitcher pulled after a hit batter and a walk. Marincov scores on a sac-fly by Weeks. UNF 3 – KSU 3

5:29 — Organ pitches himself out of a bases loaded jam. No damage done. UNF 3 – KSU 3

5:35 — Second baseman Joe Wielbruda takes a pitch off the face, has to be taken out of the game. Evan Icinelli (pitcher) is warming up to possibly take Wielbruda’s place. UNF 3 – KSU 3

Joltin Joe took it clean in the nose, looks like. His future for the tournament may be in jeopardy.

5:39 — Wilebruda pulled. Left fielder Drew Weeks moved to second base. Garrick Ferguson comes in the game to play left field.

5:43 — Top 5 – Smoke saunter. Smoke visits Organ on the mound after he allows first two hitters on base.

5:46 — KSU’s Max Pentecost goes yard over the left-field fence for a 3-run home-run. KSU 6 – UNF 3

Organ is reeling. Trexler looks ready to come in.

5:48 — Organ pulled, Trexler in.

Report: Wilebruda, bloody but ok.

6:07 — With the bases loaded, Weeks slaps a double into the right field gap, scoring two. KSU 6 – UNF 5

UNF pulls ahead for the first in the game. Kyle Brooks ropes a single into center field, scores Weeks and Roberson. UNF 7 – KSU 6

6:20 — 1-2-3 inning for Trexler. UNF 7 – KSU 6

6:27 — According to a tweet by one of the UNF players girlfriend’s, Wielbruda was hit in the teeth and 3 are hanging on by the roots.

Quick inning for UNF too. Score remains the same.

Game starting to speed up.

There is a debate in the press box on wether the tweet from P. Karmeris’ girlfriend is legitimate, but it looks like Wielbruda will be able to play tomorrow.

6:33 — The last couple innings have been quicker than the bugs flying through the stands. *Smack* UNF 7 – KSU 6

6:34 — 7th inning stretch — Athletic Director Lee Moon’s wife Connie sings “Take me out to the ball game” the loudest.

7:00 — Uneventful couple of innings. UNF 7 – KSU 6 heading into top of the 9th.

7:02 — Top 9, 3 outs away from UNF win. First batter advances to second after hit-error by Karmeris at third. Bad throw is Karmeris’ 28th error on the season

High chopper base hit. Runners on first and third.

7:09 — Fly ball dropped by Dewees scores runner from third. UNF 7 – KSU 7

7:11 — Bottom of the 9th. Game on the line. Marincov leads off with a error induced single.

Feels like a UNF movie in the making.

7:13 — Marincov steals second. Runner in scoring position.

7:15 — Dewees strikes out. Not a good inning for Donnie. Robo (Ryan Roberson) to the plate. 1 out. Robo has had two walk off hits in the last month.

7:18 — Wild pitch moves Marincov to third.

7:19 — Robo grounds out. 2 outs. Drew Weeks hits a weak grounder to shot to end the inning.

To extras we go.

UNF is 5-3 in extra inning games this season. Trexler remains in the game. Olmstead is warming up.

7:25 — KSU runner on second. Smoke makes a trip to the mound, but Trex stays in.

Shadows creeping over the field. It looks like the outfielders may be having a hard time seeing the ball due to the sun.

Smoke choses to intentionally walk a player to get to Penecost, the hottest player on KSU. Not sure why.

7:29 — Now Smoke looks like a genius. Roller to shot ends the inning. Bottom of 10 approaching. DH N. Karmeris due up.

7:34 — Lead of single by N.K. Brooks up to bat.

Brooks puts the “short” in shortstop.

Brooks lays down the sac bunt to my N.K. to second.

7:35 — C. Bass steps in. Shouts of “C. Bass” ring through the stadium. Its like a scene out of Dumb and Dumber.

Bass is intentionally walked. Garrick Ferguson to the plate.

Now people yelling “Fergie”. I keep looking for Will.I.Am.

7:38 — Fergie strikes out. Black Eyed at-bat. “Fear the Beard” Karmeris to the plate.

Long fly out, inning over.

8:00 — KSU quick inning.

Bot. 11 – 2 outs, UNF runners on first and second. Pinch hitter is Spencer Herrmann.

PA guy suggested coffee, I need some.

8:12 — Top 12 Trexler looks shaky, but works his way through the inning with a strike out and a fly-out to right.

Brooks to lead off in Bot 12.

8:21 — Chopper by Fergie scores Brooks from third. UNF wins.

I’m spent.

Time for some post game interviews.

Thanks for reading.
