At the 3rd Annual Jax Truckies Food Truck Championship on May 17th, attendees can purchase raffle tickets and vote for their favorite food trucks to win Overall Champion. All of the profits go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida to encourage building positive relationships for the youth through big-little mentoring.
At the first championship three years ago, Jax Truckies representative Amy O’Grady said they were just seeing what they could do to raise funds.
“Originally,” she said, “it was just a handful of trucks.”
Now, 30 trucks will gather at the Jacksonville Landing for the event, and Big Brothers Big Sisters member Dawn Robbins expects 2,000 attendees.
The event includes prizes, live music, and craft beer and runs from 4-9pm. Raffle tickets are $1.
O’Grady said having Big Brothers Big Sisters will be a great opportunity to show kids that, if they want to do something, it’s possible.
Robbins said Big Brothers Big Sisters is using the event as their monthly Big and Little activity.
Jax Truckies is a collection of the food trucks in the Jacksonville area.
