Nelly, Bow Wow to dribble up cash at UNF to promote education

Multi-platinum recording artists and actors Nelly and Bow Wow will duke it out on the basketball court in the UNF Arena March 13 as Loose Cannon Entertainment presents the Derrty ENT versus Cash Money Millionaires Celebrity Basketball Tour.

This is the first time the UNF Arena gets the chance to host a celebrity basketball game as Nelly and Bow Wow match teams they personally picked to go head-to-head against each other in order to raise money for education awareness. UNF was chosen as a venue because the event’s goal is directed toward college students gaining education.

The event’s head coordinator Benjamin Buckner said the event gives people the chance to have fun and help promote furthering education.

Education is something that’s really, really needed, and that’s something that we really all need to be behind in support,” Buckner said.

Each team will play games all throughout the U.S. to determine the winner. The losing team in the competition will donate $100,000 to the charity of their choice. Nelly and Bow Wow have not divulged to which charities they will be giving money through the competition.

Nelly is currently winning 3-2 against Bow Wow.

Buckner said the games have been playing to sold-out crowds, with as many as 6,000 attendees at the events.

The ticket prices start at $10, and they are expected to sell out for UNF Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the event starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 13. Tickets may be purchased at the UNF Box Office, online at Ticketmaster or by phone 1-800-745-3000.
