The event featured guest speaker Rear Admiral Mary M. Jackson, commander of the Southeast Region of the US Navy.

She stressed honoring and thanking veterans for their service. “Whether you wear a uniform or not, you are connected to a veteran,” Jackson said to a crowd of military veterans and their relatives.

Shortly after the speech, veterans in the crowd rose to represent their respective divisions in the military that they served in. Audience members also rose to acknowledge the wars they served combat in, from the Korean War to the war in Afghanistan.

The ceremony closed out with a prayer, and a performance of “America the Beautiful” by the UNF Brass Quintet.

Veteran’s Day is this Wednesday, November 11th.
