Student Life hosted the Light Up the Lake event Saturday night, Nov. 21 at Osprey Plaza to end the semester with a glow party by the lake.
The event showcased balloon animals, t-shirt making, face painting, dancing, free food from Rocco’s Pizza Truck, and plenty of glow sticks to light up the night.
“It was a clever way to bring the students together before the Thanksgiving break,” freshman nursing major Jordan Iacabucci said.
One of the primary reasons for putting on this event was to allow students a place where they can distress from the semester, and clear their heads for the upcoming exams. The lively music and the flashing strobe lights provided a lighthearted atmosphere for students to hang out with their friends and have a good time.
“I had a fun time and I hope that they have this event next year,” freshman biomedical
sciences major Thomas George said. “I guess you could say it was pretty lit.”
Lucy Croft, associate vice president of student affairs, said the goal of the event was to lift the weight of studying, grades and finals off the backs of the student body.
“[It was] just to have a great time and get students out,” Croft said. “A little stress reliever, a lot of fun and a lot of laughs,”
There was an excellent turnout of students who all enjoyed the free, freshly cooked pizza provided by Rocco’s Pizza, a food truck native to the greater Jacksonville area. If free food wasn’t enough, there was a live DJ playing music all night long.
