The Student Wellness Complex closed at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, due to an “overwhelming” odor coming from the newly resurfaced group fitness room floors.
The University sent out an Osprey Update to inform students on their way to the Wellness Complex that it would be closed by the time they arrived.
Beth Harrell, who works in building operations, told Spinnaker the odor is not poisonous. The facilities are experiencing a slow flow of traffic, and the staff doesn’t want students sensitive to odors to get headaches while working out.
The staff plans to reopen the gym at 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 16.
