North Florida earned their first conference win of the season Monday against USC Upstate, 78-67 behind a stellar performance from Tesh Hanson who netted a game and season-high of 27 points.
UNF (8-10, ASUN 1-2) lead USC Upstate (8-10, ASUN 1-2) in almost every category. The Ospreys came out hungry, desperate for their first ASUN win.
Five UNF players had double-digit scoring games. Redshirt junior Tesh Hanson scored 27 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, giving her the only double-double of the night.
Sierra Shepherd added 13 points of her own in addition to three steals, and shot 60 percent from the three-point line.
Claire Ioannidis and Jaiveonna Norris both added 11 points each to the Osprey’s total.
Simone Brown scored 10 points and snatched down four rebounds.
With this team effort UNF was able to get their first ASUN victory over USC Upstate 76-67.
Next, the Ospreys come home to face Lipscomb on Jan. 21, which is the “Grey Out”. The game starts at 1:00 p.m.
