The university still has not made a decision on closures to campus due to Hurricane Irma, which is headed for the East coast of Florida.

“We’re continuing to monitor the storm the crisis management team is meeting regularly,” said Sharon Ashton, UNF’s vice president of public relations.

There is no date or time for when a decision will be released regarding class cancellations, according to Ashton. Students should check their student email and UNF’s home page for updates.

Jacksonville University announced Wednesday the university will be closed Friday Sept. 8 through Tuesday Sept 12.

“Physical Facilities is preparing the campus by clearing storm drains, filling up generators [and] removing debris,” the university said in a statement Tuesday.

Last October when Hurricane Matthew hit the university, students who were still on campus were evacuated to the Fountains for days during the storm.
