Around seven apartments at the University of North Florida’s Osprey Landing dormitory were burglarized over winter break.
At least four dorm rooms on the third floor of building W reported thefts over the holiday, according to the police report. There were no signs of forced entry.
Items stolen included jewelry, computer and electronic equipment including a flat-screen television and Xbox, according to UPD police reports.
Jacksonville.com reported that UNF spokeswoman Sharon Ashton said the burglaries occurred during a routine waxing of the dormitory room floors. The Orange Park-based company responsible for cleaning the floors are not considered suspects, but they may have allowed for someone else to sneak into the rooms by propping open the doors to allow the floors to dry.
