The softball team (2-4) couldn’t get any hits in the 9-0 loss to the No. 2 Florida Gators (6-0) on Feb. 14 in Gainesville.

Early in the game, the Ospreys and Gators were close with the home team only up by two runs in the third inning. This all changed in the fourth inning as Florida exploded with seven runs over North Florida.

With such a big gap, the game closed out in five innings after no response from the Ospreys.

Florida’s pitcher Kelly Barnhill had a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts against North Florida. Only one Osprey made it to a base during the meeting.

North Florida will return to Jacksonville for their home opener in the Courtyard Marriott UNF Invite on Feb. 16. They face Providence at 4:30 pm for the first game of the invite. The invite will be held at Atlantic Coast High School.
