Here Come the Mummies coming to Jacksonville

Pierce Turner, Features Editor

Funk Rock/Ska band Here Come the Mummies is coming to the Ponte Vedra Concert hall in September and tickets go on sale Friday. No, they don’t rap.

The band, apparently comprised entirely of actual mummies, has over a dozen albums and four EP’s, but you’ve probably never heard of them until now. The members’ real names are secret (kept under wraps?), so they could very well be rockstars long thought to be dead. Here are their assumed names and no, I did not make these up: Flava Mummy, Oozie Mummy, Bucking Blanco, Ramses Mummy, Hoser, Java Mummy, Will Pharaoh.

Here is one of their spooky music videos:

As you can see, this is real, and they don’t just moan at people with their arms stretched out (unfortunately).

From the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall:

“Some say [Here Come the Mummies] were cursed after deflowering a great Pharaoh’s daughter. Others claim they are reincarnated Grammy-winning musicians. Regardless, HCTM’s mysterious personas, cunning song-craft, and unrelenting live show will bend your brain, and melt your face.”

Tickets go on sale on ticketmaster.com Friday. So, if you want a truly, truly unique concert experience, check it out.

Now, if only they start touring with the demons in Gwar and the robots from Daft Punk we will have a whole monster show.
