Members of the Students for a Democratic Society,  Jacksonville Transgender Action Committee, JASMYN, and Equality Florida were present at the rally for justice in front of the Duval Courthouse Wednesday, June 27.

Many were rallying for justice in the name of Cathalina James, killed on Sunday, 38-year-old Antash’a English, killed on June 1, and 36-year-old Celine Walker, killed on Feb. 4. Plus a 23-year-old woman’s aggravated battery on June 12. All victims were black transgender females.

Jacksonville makes up for 23 percent of nationwide transgender homicides for 2018. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is not under the impression that the murders are connected.
