If you walk around campus today and see that flags are lowered, the reason is due to last Thursday’s shooting. On Thursday, June 28, a man entered the Capital Gazette and fired into the newsroom. Five people died, and a majority of those people were journalists.

President Donald Trump ordered the flags be lowered today following the controversy he sparked after he initially said he wouldn’t.

Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley reportedly requested the flags to be lowered yesterday, July 2, but the President refused to do so. This morning, the President put out a statement that the flags will indeed be lowered today and will remain so until sunset.
