Alfred Nairn

Next time you get a notification on your phone in regards to a public matter and think its another AMBER Alert, think again.

On Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 2:18pm the nation will be having its first wireless emergency alert test. A WEA test will be sent to all cell phones. The WEA test message will read, “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

The WEA system is used to warn the public about critical situations such as missing children and dangerous weather. The WEA test will use a special tone and vibration.
