Tracking Dorian: Storm moves slowly past Florida’s East Coast

Lianna Norman, Editor in Chief

After spending several days over the Bahamas, Dorian is now moving up the Northeast Coast of Florida at a slow nine miles per hour.

The Category 2 storm remains about 115 miles away from the coast of Jacksonville and is expected to push tropical storm conditions onshore.

UNF was evacuated on Tuesday and all classes have been canceled through Thursday.

Although the cone of uncertainty no longer encompasses the city of Jacksonville, heavy winds and potential for flooding remain a concern until the storm passes.
