Global Goal Live announces its plan to be LIVEAID 2.0

34 years ago, over 70 bands performed in the largest concert the world has ever seen, showcasing bands such as Queen, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Elton John and many others. Now, a group of CEOs and government leaders are attempting another concert in the same spirit of LIVEAID.

Global Goal Live: The Possible Dream, created by Hugh Evans and Declan Kelly, is slated to happen on September 26, 2020, spanning 5 continents and lasting 10 hours. So far, two concerts have been confirmed in Central Park, New York, and Lagos, Nigeria. Three cities have yet to be decided in Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

On September 26 of this year, a press conference was held and announced that artists such as Billie Eilish, Janelle Monáe, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pharrell Williams, Coldplay, Ozzy Osbourne, and many more would be performing. More artists will be announced over the course of the year leading up to the event.

The event is aiming to surpass the first LIVEAID as being the largest live broadcast in “cause-event history.”

“We have ten years to end extreme poverty and tackle climate change. While we have seen significant progress, we will not be successful at our current pace. The scale of this problem — helping get 736 million people out of extreme poverty — will take everyone’s participation,” said Evans.

Global Goal Live is channeling the Spirit of LIVEAID as it was able to send an impact on a world wide scale. You can watch the trailer announcing the event here.
