In the only exhibition of the year, UNF men’s basketball puffed its chest and handled Flagler University 84-67. There were some struggles from last year that reappeared in the game. The Ospreys were out-rebounded by Flagler 50-42, and they shot just 55 percent from the free throw line. Free throws were an issue many fans remember from last season.
The team used the exhibition to showcase two different lineups. Junior Andy Diaz led the starters with 14 points, and freshmen Fred Landers showed fans his potential with 11 points off of the bench.
The Ospreys have a weekend off before beginning a rough stretch of games. They start the regular season Nov. 11 against No. 19 Alabama. The team looks to build upon its success from last season when it reached the Atlantic Sun playoff final for the first time in program history.
