Baseball signs righty from Bloomingdale
The UNF men’s baseball team added to its future pitching staff, locking up a player for next season. Bloomingdale coach, Kris Wilken, announced Nov. 4 that pitcher Sean Moore will commit to UNF. Moore, a 6-foot-2 right-hander, was 4-1 with a 5.07 ERA last season in 12 appearances for the Bloomingdale Bulls. Moore struck out 46 batters in just 38 and two thirds innings for the Bulls. Bloomingdale is in one of the toughest districts in Florida, which means Moore should be well prepared to play at the college level.
Golf looks toward the future with new recruit
The No. 6 ranked UNF men’s golf team made the news this week. Not only did they win a tournament Nov. 8, they secured a key player for next season. Fivay Senior Austin Padova announced his commitment to UNF on Nov. 5. Padova made three straight appearances in the Florida 1A state tournament. Each year he has improved his game. In his most recent state tournament Nov. 2, Padova finished in a four-way tie for sixth place. Padova will help fill the void that UNF seniors Kevin Aylwin and Joe Byun will leave after this season.
