A student’s shotgun was stolen from his unlocked car after he parked behind Osprey Hall.

The victim said, some time between March 26 and 30, he was unloading his groceries and found his gun and jacket missing when he went back to his car.

He reported the gun stolen to UNFPD on April 7 and said it is a Remington shotgun.

According to the UNFPD report, the victim said the suspect entered through the trunk.

After the incident the victim continued on with classes and contacted his parents. His parents told him to contact UNFPD and report the incident.

“Keeping a gun in the car really is not a good idea,” said Chief Charles Strudel of the UNFPD.

“I would like to encourage people to please lock their doors and then call immediately when something happens,” said Strudel.

The victim was unable to provide any suspect information and did not report any suspicious activity.

The victim didn’t indicate whether not the gun was loaded in the report.

The vehicle wasn’t processed due to the lapse of time and inclement weather.
