UPDATE — 4/1 4:00 p.m.
Classes after 3 p.m. on Thursday are cancelled and all classes on Friday are cancelled.
Classes are scheduled as usual for now, according to a special edition of the Osprey Update.
Just as Monday’s social media posts said, the update assures students that the UNF Crisis Management Team is monitoring Tropical Depression 9.
The storm is currently nearly stationary, according to the National Hurricane Center, but it’s expected to pick up speed as the day goes on.
The Osprey Update stated forecasters expect the worst of the storm to hit on Friday afternoon. The update also stated that Jacksonville may experience power outages on Friday morning, but that the university has underground powerlines that likely won’t be affected by debris from the storm.
In preparation for the storm, the UNF grounds crew is securing outdoor furniture and clearing drainage lines, the update stated. The update also suggests that residents and staff members bring in their own outdoor furniture and items from balconies.
