Moving day is coming for students, but for two UNF organizations moving day came a bit sooner. Both Campus Life and Student Alliance for Inclusion and Diversity (SAID) moved offices this past week before Fall semester started.

SAID, which includes UNF Asian Students in Alliance (ASIA), Black Student Union (BSU)  and Latin American Student Organization (LASO), left their offices on the first floor of the Student Union. They moved in with the Interfaith Center on the first floor of Founder’s Hall.

“It’s definitely a change, and a new environment,” VP of UNF ASIA Aditi Mahabir said. “Not new as in the sense that we know the people upstairs, but just accommodating to everything.”

The reason behind the move was to bring the Department of Diversity Initiatives together, and have one centralized location to grow as a department and a team.

“They are a part of our family,” Director of Women’s Center Sheila Spivey said. “We want to make them feel that.”

Campus Life moved from their hidden corner on the first floor of the Student Union to the previous SAID offices near the Game Room.

“I always admired the space due to its access to students and its exposure,” Assistant Director of Campus Life Courtney King said. “We are a resource for students, and now we get to engage and guide because we have the space to do it.”
