A vigil honoring the 17 victims who lost their lives at last week’s school shooting will be held at the Peace Plaza at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 21. The Peace Plaza is where the Mahatma Gandhi and the Martin Luther King, Jr. sculptures are located.

The Department of Diversity Initiatives will be hosting the vigil, and stated there will be a representative of the UNF Counseling Center present.

“We wanted to provide an opportunity for students who were impacted in any way by the school shooting,” Director of the Department of Diversity Initiatives Sheila Spivey said. “Students can come together and support each other as we deal with violence and mass shooting in this country.”

The UNF Counseling Center has been offering students open hours for all those affected by the tragedy. Students who can’t go to the Counseling Center during normal hours can also call the support line at (904) 620-2602.
