Ron DeSantis wins Republican primary for Florida governor

Ron DeSantis claimed victory in the Republican gubernatorial primary on Tuesday. DeSantis won by 621,132 votes in total.

DeSantis is a U.S. Representative for the sixth district of Florida. A Jacksonville native, DeSantis graduated from Harvard and Yale before entering the U.S. Navy. According to his platform, he is staunchly pro-life and a strong defender of the Second Amendment. Prior to winning the Republican primary, DeSantis was also endorsed by President Donald Trump.
The general election will be taking place on November 6.
