After weeks of campaigning, Republican Governor Rick Scott has won the vote for Florida’s Senate. On Nov. 6, it was announced that Scott beat opponent Senator Bill Nelson in the race for Florida Senate.

Rick Scott claimed victory late Tuesday night, however, Senator Bill Nelson did not formally concede. He is expected to give a statement later on Wednesday.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Scott has spent over $150 million on his three campaigns, which is more than any Florida politician in history.

Since 2011, Scott has served Florida as the Republican Governor and has maintained a long career in health insurance. Now, as part of Florida’s Senate, Scott’s new responsibilities include nominating and appointing senior judges, resolving conflicts of interest, and creating measures to prevent discrimination.
